This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the structure, functions, and management of financial institutions in modern economies. It examines the roles of commercial banks, investment banks, insurance companies, pension funds, microfinance institutions, and other non-bank financial intermediaries in mobilizing funds, allocating capital, and managing risks. The course emphasizes both theoretical and practical aspects of financial intermediation, with a focus on regulatory frameworks, corporate governance, risk management practices, and strategic decision-making in financial institutions.
Students will explore topics such as financial services and products, asset-liability management, capital adequacy, liquidity management, credit analysis, fintech innovations, and the impact of global financial markets on institutional performance. Case studies and real-world examples will be used to analyze how financial institutions respond to economic cycles, technological changes, and regulatory reforms.
By the end of the course, students will be able to evaluate the performance of financial institutions, design strategies for managing financial risks, and understand the ethical and social responsibilities of financial managers in ensuring institutional stability and economic growth.
